The Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009, better known as the CREDIT CARD Act, becomes effective February 22, 2010. Features with an (*) were effective August 20, 2009.
It was enacted largely due to the abusive and unfriendly practices by many of the nation's financial institutions.
Major Provisions of the Law include:

•More protection for the young
•Fairer Gift Card terms (Effective August 22, 2010)
The Credit CARD Act ends several unfair practices, but doesn't place ceilings on rates.
